About

Two Greek Words

The word “Theology” is derived from two Greek words: theos (God) and logos (word). Simply put, Theology is “words about God” or “the study of God.” We study Theology for God’s sake and His glory.

This blog takes a deeper look at the doctrines of Christian Theology in order to help believers grow in their knowledge and love of God. My prayer is that your study of Theology (words about God) would lead to doxology (worship of God).

About The Author

My name is Carey Bryant. I was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I married my beautiful wife, Brittany, on May 3, 2015.  I graduated from Bryan College with a BA in Biblical Studies in 2012. I love playing the drums and listening to music. I also enjoy playing sports and being active (when I feel like it). I am an introvert who loves to read books, usually about topics that bore most people. I am extremely obsessed with all things related to Batman and I can actually be seen in the Dark Knight Rises (if you pause the movie at just the right moment and have a magnifying glass handy).

I am a follower of Christ and I seek to live out God’s Word as revealed to us in the Bible. God has given me a passion to study His Word and this blog is an outcome of this passion.

The Story Behind The Name

Dr. Spiros Zodhiates was the longtime president of the missions organization that I currently work for, AMG International. As a Greek, he was very knowledgeable in the language of the New Testament. When explaining the definition of a Greek word, he would  often explain how that word consisted of “two Greek words.”

One day I was traveling for work with my friend Justin Lonas, when I mentioned that I was trying to come up with a name for my blog. He said I should call it “Two Greek Words” since it was a favorite phrase of Dr. Zodhiates. I thought it was very catchy so I decided to use it.

I struggled trying to tie in the name with writing about theology. Then I realized that “theology” comes from two Greek words! And that’s how the name was born.
